Chronic Emphysema can be very dangerous as it can become fatal because there is no cure. Salt Therapy at The Salt Room Will Make Your Lungs Feel Better

The salt particles absorb edema from the mucosa lining the airway passages. The airway passage widens and inflammation is reduced. Blockages in the bronchi and bronchioles are unclogged and the normal transport of mucus is restored making breathing easier. Salt therapy also clears your respiratory tract from allergens like pollen and tobacco smoke. It reduces infection in the lungs by destroying bacteria and germs. Salt therapy also strengthens your immune system and builds up your resistance to disease. After you have undergone 7-12 sessions, you will enjoy its benefits for 6-12 months.

Clinical Studies Support The Effectiveness of Salt Therapy for Emphysema

This treatment may protect the lung from insults that reduces mucus clearance and reduces lung disease”. Salt therapy which is an ideal blend of science and nature helps to reduce lung infection and improve your breathing.

How Salt Therapy at The Salt Room Helps Emphysema Sufferers

Salt therapy at The Salt Room in Orlando, Florida replicates the natural microclimate prevalent in salt caves and mines in a controlled atmosphere. Salt therapy provides a pleasant experience as the environment is extremely relaxing and similar to a spa. The patient is asked to relax in a comfortable armchair in the halochamber. It has salt coated walls and floor which functions like a buffer for air moisture and maintains the aseptic properties in the environment. The room is equipped with a halogenerator which ensures a constant supply of clean dry air saturated with particles of sodium chloride.

These crushed particles contain kinetic energy which is responsible for healing. For emphysema treatment, dry sodium chloride aerosol at a mass concentration varying from 1-16 mg/m3 with a particle size of 1-5 um are ideal. A microprocessor in the halogenerator is responsible for monitoring the temperature, relative humidity and mass concentration of aerosol in the chamber. Highly skilled halospecialists are at hand to guide you. Very few side effects are reported by patients undergoing salt therapy. Some have complained of mild skin irritation and a slight throat tickle which can easily be remedied with the help of saline water gargles.

Symptoms of Emphysema Salt Therapy Can Help With

Emphysema is a disease affecting the lungs. It is considered a part of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or COPD. It can also be caused by enzyme deficiency and exposure to pollution.

The most prominent symptom of emphysema is difficulty in breathing which gets worse with the passage of time. Other symptoms include loose cough and tightness of chest. Another type of emphysema is subcutaneous emphysema which occurs when gas or air is present in the subcutaneous layer of the skin. Emphysema symptoms include sore throat, neck pain, difficulty in swallowing, wheezing and difficulty in breathing. Salt cave (or Speleotherapy) treatment involves the same passive inhalation as Halotherapy and has been proven to provide reliefIt was in 1843 that the concept on which halotherapy is based was first published by a physician. After observing the remarkably low incidence of respiratory conditions in salt mine workers who were regularly exposed to air saturated with saline dust, the concept of speleotherapy (salt cave therapy) was born.

More recently, research published in the New England Journal of Medicine concluded that salt inhalation was a highly effective treatment for cystic fibrosis after observations among surfers led to clinical trials.

Halotherapy, a Naturapathic Breath of Fresh Air

In the fall issue of Vital Link Respiratory Conditions, Sussanna Czeranko published an article about the role Halotherapy (salt therapy) can play in the treatment of asthma. She describes the history of salt therapy, as well as the even older “Speleotherapy” (which is similar to halotherapy, except it is focused on the medicinal value of salt caves instead of just salt), and specifically the history and effectiveness of salt therapy as a treatment for a variety of respiratory ailments.

Much of what she writes is technical, although for those of you who are clinically minded the article does go on to describe the different salt solutions tested and used in halotherapy, as well as a description of why and how the salt solution is effective on conditions including chronic asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, bronchiectasis, coughs, sinusitus, seasonal allergies, atopic dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, and others.
