A tremendous amount of scientific research has been conducted which proves how salt therapy — especially the form practiced at The Salt Room in Orlando — can help treat and alleviate asthma symptoms and that it a safe, painless complement to regular asthma treatment regimens.
Asthma is one of the most widespread conditions in the world. Around 22 million people, including six million children in the US, are victims of asthma. Asthma usually starts in childhood and may diminish as one grows older, but typically persists to some extent well throughout adulthood. Although there is still no cure for asthma, salt therapy treatment not only provides temporary relief but also provides a long term remedy for asthma. As of 2008, 10.2% of adults living in Florida and 9.8% of adultĀ residents Orlando, and over 16% of adults living in Jacksonville had been at some point diagnosed with Asthma.
Asthma is a chronic respiratory disease that affects around 300 million people around the world including a large proportion of children. Around 7% of the US population are victims of asthma. Every year asthma claims 4,000 lives in the US alone. Prescription drugs and inhalers may bring immediate relief but an asthma attack can recur at any time. Halotherapy treatment will not only ease your symptoms but also prevents its frequent recurrence.
Impact The Salt Room Will Have on Your Asthma
A patient suffering from asthma will find relief from halotherapy treatment as it helps widen your airways as well as humidifies and fluidizes the bronchial secretions in the bronchial tree, thereby reducing bronchospasm. Halotherapy provides natural asthma treatment as it absorbs the edema from the mucosa lining the airway passages, having natural non-steroidal anti-inflammatory properties. An asthma patient will start breathing easily after just a few sessions. These sessions will also decrease your coughing and your dependence on asthma inhalers and drugs. A complete treatment regiment of 7-15 sessions will provide benefits for as long as 6-12 months.

Christine Webb of Central Florida 13 News has written an article about the role that salt therapy can have on helping people with allergies.
She describes the case of Tish Webster, a yoga instructor who suffered from hayfever and severe allergies to dust ever since she was a little girl. When you she tried salt therapy, she experienced almost immediate results:
“When I first went in to the Salt Cave, I noticed an immediate difference from going in. My breathing capacity was much better. After three sessions I noticed first thing in the morning I wasn’t congested like I normally am.”
Web emphasizes that while salt therapy has been found to be helpful to patients all over the world, it doesn’t replace the need for steroids for asthma (and should instead be used as a compliment to your doctor prescribed regimen).
CBBC Newsround reporter Gavin Ramjaun recently did a report on the Salt Cave London and how it was helping people cope with allergies and conditions like asthma.
In addition to the video, Newsround posted an article which basically describes the Salt Room and how is specifically helps children.
