The Science Behind Salt Therapy as an Allergy Treatment
A tremendous amount of scientific research has been conducted which proves how salt therapy — especially the form practiced at The Salt Room in Orlando — can help treat and alleviate the symptoms of allergies.
Allergies are one of the most frequently occurring diseases in the world — and they are even more prevalent in southern cities, such as Orlando, Florida. Allergies occur when your body gives an unnatural response to harmless substances. Medical treatment of allergies can prove to be expensive. The US spends more than $10 billion in the treatment of allergies. If you suffer from allergies, halotherapy brings you hope of a long term, drug-free cure.
Halogenerators, Nebulizers and Concentrated Sodium Chloride
The allergy patient is asked to relax in the Salt Room’s halochamber which includes salt coated walls and floor. These salt coated walls function like a buffer for air moisture and goes a long way in maintaining the environmental aseptic properties. All the patient is required to do is to inhale naturally. Dry sodium chloride aerosol at a mass concentration varying from 1-16 mg/m3 with a particle size of 1-5 um creates the ideal environment. The Salt Room’s halochamber is equipped with a halogenerator which functions like a nebulizer and ensures a flow of clean dry air.
The salt aerosol is constantly blown and scattered into the halochamber. These salt particles change positive ions into negative ions which play a pivotal role in strengthening the allergy sufferer’s immune system. The halogenerator possesses advanced computer which is responsible for maintaining the temperature, relative humidity and mass of aerosol in the salt therapy chamber. The temperature in the treatment room ranges between 68-78 degrees Fahrenheit. Humidity is between 40-50%.
Salt Particles Penetrate Deep Into Your Lungs, Clearing Them of Debris
When the patient inhales, aerosolized micro particles around 10 microns in diameter are trapped in the upper airways of the allergy sufferer’s respiratory tract. These particles are then evicted out of the respiratory tract with the help of the mucociliary system. However, micro particles which are below 5 microns succeed in reaching deep into your lungs and penetrating into every nook and corner of the bronchi, bronchioles, and alveoli and deposit upon the surface. They are responsible for bringing down the viscosity of the allergy sufferer’s mucus and help restore the normal mucociliary flow that removes mucus, pathogens, and debris from the airways and thereby clearing them.
If you suffer from allergies, the Salt Room’s treatment brings allergy relief by humidifying the bronchial secretions thereby reducing broncho-spasm. Smoke residual tar, phlegm and other allergens are removed and the respiratory tract is cleared bringing relief especially to asthma patients. Patients suffering from nasal allergies will experience the opening of their nasal airways, reducing nasal congestion, and facilitating the drainage of the sinuses. A patient with allergy symptoms will benefit mostby sitting in halochamber for one hour daily. A full course can last up to about 7-10 weeks depending on the allergy patient’s condition. After 7-12 sessions of salt therapy treatment at the Salt Room you will discover that your airways are free of congestion, your nasal passage clear, your coughing decreases and you will breathe more easily.
Multiple Clinical Studies Have Found Salt Therapy To Be Effective
Clinical studies have proven the benefits of salt therapy. More than 4,000 patients were treated with salt therapy in a 10-year period in Hungary. The majority of the patients reported remarkable improvement and long lasting benefits. In 1995, the Russian Ministry of Health even recognized the Halo Complex Chamber as a medical device and Dry Saline Generators have been certified as medical devices throughout Europe and has made considerable progress into North America.
Although allergy symptoms vary — if you are suffering from allergies, you are likely to have allergic conjunctivitis, itchiness, and runny nose, sneezing, rashes and swelling. Allergens can also cause asthma by constricting the airways and increasing the production of mucus. Halotherapy provides the ideal remedy for allergies. It will not only bring relief but also present a long term solution to your problem. Contact us at The Salt Room in Orlando now so we help you get rid of your allergies and prevent their return.

How The Salt Room Can Help Your Allergies
The Salt Room has been specifically constructed to help allergy sufferers relieve their symptoms and feel better in a safe, peaceful environment that feels more like a spa than a high-tech treatment facility.
Many Americans suffer from allergies. It is estimated that approximately 50 million have allergies or allergy symptoms. Allergies are particularly prevalent in Florida and it is a common health complaint among Orlando-area residents.
Prescription drugs bring temporary relief but the allergy may recur again—and again. If you are suffering from allergies, you should strongly consider halotherapy. It will not only bring much needed relief but it also prevents frequent the recurrence of your allergy symptoms.
Salt Therapy Has Been Proven to Help Alleviate Allergies
Salt therapy at The Salt Room provides allergy relief by widening the airways of the respiratory tract. The micro particles of salt reach into every area in the lungs and destroy bacteria. This helps to reduce the inflammation of the respiratory tract and clear the blockages in the bronchi and bronchioles. The humidification and fluidization of the bronchial secretions brings relief from bronchospasm and helps relieve asthma.
If you are suffering from allergy symptoms, salt therapy will help decrease the swelling of the “nasal mucosa” which causes nasal blockage. The airway passage of the nose will be widened and the sinuses drained…bringing relief.
How Allergy Treatment at The Salt Room Works
Salt Therapy at the Salt Room in Orlando brings to you the natural microclimate found in salt caves and mines in a controlled environment. The temperature, humidity and the sodium chloride flow is constantly monitored so that the patient receives the right dosage. The best part of this therapy is that the patient will also enjoy it.
The experience is similar to visiting a spa. You will be taken to the halochamber. The walls and floor of this therapeutic chamber are coated with salt. Here you will just relax listening to soothing music and breathing naturally.
Dry sodium chloride aerosol containing particles of 1-5 um in size is produced and pushed into this room by a halogenerator. The halogenerator is also equipped with a microprocessor which is responsible for keeping a check on the temperature, relative humidity and mass concentration of aerosol in the chamber.
In order to treat allergies, the environment is saturated with dry sodium chloride aerosol at a mass concentration varying from 1-16 mg/m3 with a particle size of 1-5 um. A team of sophisticated halospecialists are there to lend a helping hand. If you are a patient of bronchial asthma or allergic cough your coughing may increase after 3-4 sessions of halotherapy. However, this is a part of the treatment and it will eventually subside after a few more sessions.

I Have Never…Tried Salt Cave Therapy (Review)
Mihika V, a management consultant and user of indipepal.com from Mumbai, India, recently published a virgin diary entitled “I have Never…Tried Salt Cave Therapy” in which he describes his experience trying salt therapy for the first time. Before salt therapy, he had tried any number of cures to help him with his sinus issues, ranging from waking up every morning with a stuffed nose, a running nose during the day and a wheezy chest. He was also allergic to so many things that it only “would take a single whiff of a flower or someone’s strong perfume to send me into a tizzy state of sneezes.”
Desperate, Mihika flew all the way to London to give salt therapy a try. He was surprised by what he found:
As I entered the man-made salt cave, I immediately warmed up to it. It reminded me of a winter wonderland and the beaches of Miami at the same time. The walls and the floor were completely covered in a thick dense crust of white salt. The sun loungers, footstools with magazines, and the sound of waves filled the room. But only this was better, the saline smell that usually bothered me at the beaches wasn’t present here. As the lights were dimmed, I settled on my bench.
I spent the next one hour, flipping through magazines, meditating for a bit and even caught a wink in the last 15-minutes. The air in the room just felt exceptionally clean and clear. An hour later, when the lights went up, I felt invigorated and most importantly my nose felt less blocked.
Returning home, Mihika found that his sinuses remained clear for about a week following his time at the UK Salt Cave and his friends even commented that he sounded less nasal than before.

Salt Therapy Combats Allergies
Christine Webb of Central Florida 13 News has written an article about the role that salt therapy can have on helping people with allergies.
She describes the case of Tish Webster, a yoga instructor who suffered from hayfever and severe allergies to dust ever since she was a little girl. When you she tried salt therapy, she experienced almost immediate results:
“When I first went in to the Salt Cave, I noticed an immediate difference from going in. My breathing capacity was much better. After three sessions I noticed first thing in the morning I wasn’t congested like I normally am.”
Web emphasizes that while salt therapy has been found to be helpful to patients all over the world, it doesn’t replace the need for steroids for asthma (and should instead be used as a compliment to your doctor prescribed regimen).
